For the city festival DORTBUNT – One city. Many Faces, the Department of Malerei, Digital & Expanded Painting at the Institute of Art and Material Culture at TU Dortmund University, under the direction of Prof. Tillmann Damrau and Ulvis Müller, presented prototypical works on the artistic design of hybrid visual worlds. The aim was to present artistic applications of digital art for public spaces, museums, and other exhibition venues.
Visitors were invited to discover the students' virtual artworks in the project area on the old market square. Under the artists' guidance, the works could be accessed, discovered, and experienced as augmented reality using the EXPANDED PAINTING APP on the tablets provided.
The works of a diverse group of artists, including Samra Besic, Alicja Breuing, Sarah Budnick, Jerome Braun, Melissa Hermann, Katrin Heintzmann, Anna Helm, Maja Komuda, Nico Speer, Arina Terzioglu, Josefine Vriesen, Lina Weber and Ida Weidl were on display, showcasing a wide range of perspectives and styles. Thomas Westphal, the Lord Mayor of the City of Dortmund, visibly enjoyed the art on display, too.
