SYMPOSIUM MALEREI

To mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Technical University of Dortmund, the Chair of Painting at the Institute of Art and Material Culture organized an international symposium on painting in cooperation with the Dortmunder U and the Museum Ostwall on 12 and 13 July 2018.

The "Symposium Malerei "presented and reflected on different positions of contemporary theory formation and artistic research on painting. Positions from philosophy, art studies and art were combined to form an interdisciplinary examination of the current state of painting, particularly with regard to the specific conditions and possibilities of the medium in the context of contemporary image production as a whole.
