TABULA PICTA LOREM IPSUM | TPLI
EXHIBITION
Dortmunder U | City Campus
30.09. - 26.10.2022
An exhibition title in Latin. "Tabula picta" is the name of the picture panel. "Lorem ipsum" is the beginning of a dummy text used as a model text for optimal page layout since the early days of book printing. It goes back to a text by Cicero on ethics. The exhibition was not to be determined by a given theme but by the artistic work defined by the specific interests of the artists. Consequently, the exhibition brought together the most diverse positions of contemporary painting.
Painting is no longer conceivable today without the everyday experience of the interactive images of our displays, photography, film, television, and video. Painting today is an art in which analog and digital image formats influence and mix in many ways due to a diverse media experience. The exhibition TABULA PICTA LOREM IPSUM was motivated by the desire to make our changed understanding of painting artistically present.
Accordingly, many exhibits included pictures of classical painting techniques and those exploring digital painting. The exhibition aimed to show that painting today opens up a field of action that confronts and combines the claim to participation in culture, personal experience, and developments with the possibilities of artificial intelligence and the insistent bustle of our media public sphere.
The exhibition TABULA PICTA LOREM IPSUM showed paintings by Luisa Ansel, Lena Bodingbauer, Sarah Budnick, Malin Emming, Luisa Erpenbeck, Salma Hallal, Kristina Svenja Heyermann, Celine-Joelle Hoffmann, Anja Celine Kalytta, Katja-Marina Krähe, David Mellin, Friedrich Möhrke, Jan Oberste-Brink-Bockholt, Acelya Ördü, Jamin David Pamin, Kaethe Charlotte Rosiepen, Aron Schmidtke, Leo Schneider, Max Spielvogel, Mandy Sonnenberg, Greta Stach, Lisa Steinbart, Dulana Tillmann, Merlin Philipp Woge, Sandy Zesko and Hannah Zühlke.
