Multimedia

The term multimedia is a bracket that encompasses all areas of work at the Seminar for Art and Art History. The seminar has therefore made considerable efforts in recent years to meet the scientific and social demands for work opportunities with digital media.

Artistic assistant for multimedia (Timo Klos)

Since 2019, Timo Klos has been the Artistic Associate for Multimedia and is responsible for the entire Art & Art Science Department.

He provides assistance with:

  • Image editing, layout, print data preparation and data archiving.
  • color management: tuning of printers, scanners and monitors
  • Care and maintenance of large and small format printers and scanners
  • Exhibition projects and their image production
  • Exhibition documentation
  • Reproduction photography and digitization by means of scanners
  • Maintenance of the new web presence of the Department of Art & Art Sciences (set-up, maintenance and internal training)
  • Consulting/interface to the ITMC for hardware purchases (PC & Mac)
  • IT partner/contact person and informant for relevant software (Adobe CC, Office, etc.)
  • technical support of the PC-Pool (EF50)

Digital reproductions of artistic works

PC & MAC Pool

A total of 26 workstations are available in both pools. Of these, 14 Mac workstations are located in the Plastics work area ("Halls") and 12 PC workstations are located in Emil-Figge-Str.50 (R. 5229).

Work capabilities include:

  • Film and document scanning
  • Digital image editing (Affinity Photo & Adobe Photoshop)
  • DTP (Affinity Publisher & Adobe InDesign)
  • Video editing (Adobe Premiere & DaVinci Resolve)
  • Animations / Animation
  • Web design
  • Office applications

Printouts, Camera Rental & Repro Studio (Open Workshop Photography)

This offer is intended for students of the Department of Art and Art Science who are dependent on photography for theirlerische or scientific work are dependent on the medium of photography. We share our knowledge and offer help with scans and repros or questions about camera technique, image processing and possibilities of printing.

Opening hours during the lecture-free period of the winter semester 2022/23 Wednesday, Feb. 15, 12-14 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 01, 12-14 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 15, 12-14 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 29, 12-14 p.m.

Open analog photo lab dates through July 2023:

01.03, 15.03, 29.03, 19.04, 03.05, 17.05, 31.05, 14.06, 28.06, 12.07, 26.07

The darkroom will be open every two weeks on Wednesdays from 10-14 (by appointment until 16). This offer is for everything related to analog photography: film development, film scanning and working in the darkroom.
