Seminar for Art and Art Science
The "Seminar for Art and Art Science" at the "Institute for Art and Material Culture" of the Technical University of Dortmund is divided into three areas: Artistic Work, Art History and Art Didactics. This ensures professional standards in the respective fields of work and is the basis for their networking with regard to the common tasks in teacher education, which are expressed in the objectives of the teaching professions.
The networking takes place, for example, through joint projects, event offerings and research projects. The students develop and work out the essential basics of artistic work, the reflected handling of the contents of art history and image science as well as of art didactics and art education.
Students develop competencies for planning, implementing and reflecting on art lessons in a school-specific context and in extracurricular applications. They acquire skills and abilities for the individual handling of artistic and technical media as essential prerequisites for artistic work and they gain exemplary insights into art historical subject discourses as a subject-specific positioning and as a deepening of the understanding of the forms and methods of art historical and image scientific work. Students are able to relate art historical, image scientific, artistic and art didactic topics.
Before beginning the program, all applicants must pass an aptitude test.
