Artistic work

The artistic work is aimed at processes of gaining knowledge, questioning and doubting as a method. In the observation of the environment and surroundings, in the appropriation of the world, the aim is to develop unconventional, non-prescription forms of expression, to break down heteronomy and clichés and to test one's own positioning. Students acquire personal norms and standards through their own artistic experimentation - critical faculties and self-awareness are trained during the course.

A prerequisite is knowledge of artistic means and their expressive qualities and the ability and skill in dealing with artistic media. Students search - with the necessary frustration tolerance - for individual questions and solutions.

As a starting point for interdisciplinary work, students learn about and use, for example, sculpture, installation, video, textiles, photography, performance, painting, drawing and printmaking.

Artistic thinking and acting is only possible in the context of questions of contemporary and historical art. This develops openness, curiosity and tolerance towards other forms of expression and innovations. It is necessary to reflect on one's own work, to justify positions and to present them confidently. Artistic work requires thought and linguistic expression that goes beyond pure intuition.
