Rundgang (annual exhibition)
Exhibition
Every year at the end of the lecture period of the summer semester, special artistic works by students of photography, graphics, painting and sculpture are shown as part of the exhibition "Rundgang Kunst der TU Dortmund" on the Hochschuletage in the Dortmunder U.
The exhibition offers students the opportunity to present their artistic work and research to a wider audience in an institutional setting. The Rundgang Kunst has enjoyed widespread attention and recognition from the public for years - as shown by the visitor figures and media coverage. On the occasion of the Rundgang Kunst, a jury of experts awards the TU Dortmund University Art Prizes, each endowed with five hundred euros, for the four disciplines of photography, graphics, painting and sculpture. The prizes are awarded to particularly qualified artistic projects that have been conceived and realized in the studios of the Department of Art and Art Science. In addition, the Rectorate of the Technical University of Dortmund awards the Edition Prize.
The artistic works shown in the exhibition deal with the perception of realities, their shifting and selective focusing - with the recording of what concerns and affects us. It is about our current and everyday experience and about recognizing and creating connections.
The often unconventional view of the world, the use of media and the diverse exhibition formats of artistic research and work document an artistic approach to the realities of our world, which means challenging conventions, norms, clichés, habits and certainties that ultimately become perceptible in the first place.
Accordingly, art demands attentive differentiation and openness to discovery. Here, pixels, colors, lines, shapes, films, apparatuses, sounds and any other means are used to create structures that can communicate with visitors in many different ways.
All interested citizens are cordially invited to see the students' impressive work for themselves.
Admission to the exhibition is free.
