About

Tillmann Damrau is an artist. He studied painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany, from 1983 to 1989. He graduated with a diploma and was a master student of Professor Robin Page. During his studies, he received a fellowship from the Jubilee Stipend Foundation of the Academy in 1987, followed by further support from the Mathias Pschorr Foundation of the Hackerbraeu Brewery in 1988. From 1994 to 1996, he held a studio stipend from the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart.

Since 2000, he has been a member of the Kuenstlerbund Baden-Wuerttemberg. Tillmann Damrau has been involved in numerous academic and research activities alongside his artistic practice. He has held lectureships, conducted workshops, and participated in research projects at institutions including the Institute of Fine Arts at Philipps University Marburg; the School of Textiles and Design at Reutlingen University; the Department of Design at the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg; the Department of Art and Material Culture at TU Dortmund University; the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich; the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi; Beijing Normal University in China; and Yunnan Arts University in Kunming, China.

In 2005, he was awarded the City of Limburg Art Prize. He served as Deputy Professor at the Institute of Fine Arts at Philipps University Marburg during the academic years 2007–08 and 2014–15. Since 2016, Tillmann Damrau has been a Full Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts at TU Dortmund University.
