„Vernetzung“ ist längst eine vielgebrauchte Alltagsmetapher. Die stete Zunahme der allgemeinen Vernetzung verändert sämtliche Bereiche des menschlichen Lebens, weil es dabei eben nicht nur um Programme und Apparate, sondern vor allem auch um menschliches Verhalten und soziale Praktiken geht. Darüber hinaus fordern internationale Krisen und Katastrophen immer wieder aufs Neue eindringlich dazu auf, mit komplex verwobenen Lebensumständen und Narrativen umzugehen, und es kommunizieren längst nicht nur Menschen, sondern – im ‚Internet der Dinge‘ – auch Apparaturen und Maschinen miteinander. Die anwachsende Konnektivität bedeutet Veränderung, Vervielfältigung, Verbreitung, Verwandlung, Verflechtung, Verdichtung, nicht aber Vereinfachung.

INTERCONNECTIONS thematisierte dieses besondere Momentum von Vielfältigkeit und Komplexität, das einhergeht mit der durch die Digitalisierung vorangetriebenen Vernetzung aller Lebensbereiche.

Die Ausstellung im Gustav-Lübcke-Museum Hamm präsentierte nicht nur ein breites Spektrum origineller Motive und Formfindungen sowie unterschiedliche Techniken und Verfahren – Malerei, Zeichnung, Druckgrafik, Installation, Performance, Fotografie, Mixed Media und digitale Kunst, sondern auch eine Vielzahl von Herangehensweisen an das Thema.

Zu sehen waren Arbeiten von Merve Baran, Lucia Danieleit, Maria Dewert, Marvin Eil, Malin Emming, Anna Helm, Finn Köhntop,  Dogan Matar, David Mellin, Aron Schmidtke, Nana Seeber,Manuel Sobottka und Fred-Louis von Oettingen.

Zur Ausstellung ist in der Reihe Dortmunder Schriften zur Kunst, Kataloge und Essays eine vom Designstudio Ten Ten Team Dortmund gestaltete Publikation erschienen.

"Networking" has long been a much-used everyday metaphor. The constant increase in general networking is changing all areas of human life because it is not just about programs and devices but also about human behavior and social practices. In addition, international crises and disasters are constantly and urgently calling for us to deal with complex, interwoven living conditions and narratives. It is not just people communicating with each other but also devices and machines in the 'Internet of Things.' Increasing connectivity means change, multiplication, dissemination, transformation, interweaving, condensation, but not simplification.

INTERCONNECTIONS focuses on this special momentum of diversity and complexity, which goes hand in hand with the networking of all areas of life driven by digitalization.

The exhibition at the Gustav-Lübcke-Museum Hamm presented not only a broad spectrum of original motifs and formal inventions as well as different techniques and processes - painting, drawing, printmaking, installation, performance, photography, mixed media, and digital art - but also a variety of approaches to the theme.
